Booking & stay

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 3:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am, with easy self check-in via the smart lock. Early check-in or late check-out is available on request where the calendar allows — £10 for one extra hour, £15 for two.

Why should I book directly rather than through Airbnb, Booking.com or Vrbo?

Booking direct is always our lowest price — typically around 10% cheaper all-in than Airbnb and Booking.com, and more again than Vrbo — with 5% off stays of 7+ nights and 15% off 28+ nights applied automatically on top. You can pay in up to 3 instalments, and you deal directly with us as your hosts from the moment you book.

How much do I actually save by booking direct?

Here's a real example — the same cottage, the same 2-night off-peak stay, priced on every site we list on. These are the full totals you'd pay, including each site's cleaning fee (£55 direct, £60 on the platforms):

Where you bookTotal for 2 nights
Direct with us£228
Airbnb£253
Booking.com£254
Vrbo£263

(Illustrative example, November 2026 — totals include each site's cleaning fee; Booking.com shown at its flexible rate)

That's a saving of around £25–35 on a typical stay. (Booking.com also offers a stricter non-refundable rate — £245 in this example — which is still more than booking direct.) The difference is real: the booking platforms charge commissions and fees on every stay, which have to be built into the prices you see there — and their cleaning fee is higher too. When you book direct, that overhead simply doesn't exist, so we pass it back to you. You also get to pay in up to 3 instalments, deal with us directly, and access our local partner discounts around Salisbury. Exact prices vary by date and season, but booking direct is always the cheapest way to stay with us.

How many guests can stay?

The cottage sleeps up to 4 guests — a king bedroom, a small double, and a pull-out single in the dining room for flexible arrangements. If you plan to use the pull-out bed, just let us know before your stay so we can have the linen prepared. It's ideal for couples, families, business travellers and dog owners.

Is there a minimum stay?

Yes — 2 nights.

Can we store luggage before check-in?

Yes — our partner Culture Coffee, a 2-minute walk away on Fisherton Street, stores luggage for £4 a day for our guests. Perfect if you arrive in Salisbury before the 3pm check-in — how to redeem it is in the guest book, which you'll have access to before arrival.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, superfast fibre Wi-Fi runs throughout the cottage — and the dining room doubles as a laptop-friendly workspace if you need to get things done.

Parking

Is parking included?

Yes. A digital Zone B visitor permit for one vehicle is included, and covers on-street parking across a wide area around the cottage. You'll need to send us your vehicle registration before check-in so it can be activated — it usually goes live about an hour before you arrive and runs in 24-hour blocks.

Can I park right outside the cottage?

The two bays directly outside are 30-minute loading bays only and aren't covered by the visitor permit — ideal for unloading when you arrive. Apart from those two bays, the remaining bays on West Street and all adjoining streets are Zone B, and included in your complimentary parking permit.

What if we wish to bring more than one vehicle?

We only have a limited number of visitor permits, so we can offer one permit per booking. For a second vehicle, the two 30-minute bays outside are perfect for unloading, and there are several pay-and-display car parks nearby: Lush House (SP2 7UX, 3-minute walk), Salisbury Railway Station (SP2 7RS, 5 minutes) and Salisbury Central (SP2 7RW, 10 minutes). Most Salisbury car parks are managed by MiPermit — you can check pricing and pre-book a space on their website or app.

Dogs & family

Are dogs welcome?

Yes — up to two well-behaved dogs, at £25 per dog per stay. They're welcome downstairs, but we ask that they stay off the furniture and aren't left unattended. Bowls and poo bags are provided; please bring your dog's own bed and towels.

Is the cottage suitable for young children?

Yes — we have a young family ourselves, so we know exactly what's needed, and we find staying at the cottage with them more than comfortable. A cot, highchair and stair gate are all available on request (just give us 24 hours' notice). One thing to be aware of: the stairs are steep, so little ones need the usual care.

Payments & policies

What's your cancellation policy?

For direct bookings: full refund if you cancel at least 5 days before check-in, and 50% refunded any time after that, right up to check-in day. There's also a 24-hour full-refund grace period after booking, for stays booked at least a week ahead. You can pay in up to 3 instalments, and we'd always recommend travel insurance for extra peace of mind.

Is there a security deposit?

Direct bookings carry a £100 security deposit. It's charged automatically 2 days before check-in and refunded automatically 2 days after check-out — you don't need to do anything. (For comparison: Booking.com bookings carry the same £100 deposit, while Airbnb and Vrbo bookings have no separate deposit — Airbnb stays are covered by AirCover, and Vrbo holds your card details instead.)

Is smoking allowed?

No — the cottage is strictly no smoking and no vaping indoors.

What if something goes wrong during my stay?

Message us as soon as you can and we'll sort it quickly. Our emergency contact number is for genuine, urgent property emergencies only — for anything life-threatening, always call 999 first.
