Reviews Policy

How we handle reviews.

This policy explains how guest reviews of Salisbury City Centre Cottage are collected, displayed and managed by The Collicott Collection Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). It reflects our obligations under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and the CMA’s fake reviews guidance.

Where our reviews come from

Every review is left by a verified guest after a completed stay. How you’re invited to review depends on how you booked:

  • Booked via Airbnb, Booking.com or Vrbo — the platform will invite you to leave a review after check-out, under its own verification process and policies.
  • Booked directly with us — our booking system (Hospitable) automatically invites you to leave a review by email after your stay, and direct reviews appear alongside our live booking calendar. We may also invite you to share feedback or a review by email.

You can also leave feedback publicly on channels such as Google or social media, or privately by emailing feedback@weststreetsalisbury.co.uk — private feedback is not published.

We do not incentivise reviews

We never offer money, discounts, vouchers or any other incentive in exchange for a review — positive or negative. Our local partner discounts and returning-guest offers are available to all guests regardless of whether they leave a review.

Review standards

A review must reflect the reviewer’s genuine experience of a stay (positives and negatives), must not be incentivised, must not relate to a business the reviewer is connected with, and must not attempt to manipulate ratings (for example, multiple reviews of the same stay). Reviewers must be aged 18 or over.

How reviews are displayed on this website

  • The reviews page shows a selection of highlights from our reviews, sometimes shortened for space — shortening is always marked with “…” and never alters the reviewer’s meaning or removes criticism.
  • Every review tile links to the platform it came from, where the complete, unedited review — and all our other reviews, positive or negative — can be read in full.
  • Where we display an overall rating or review count (including in search-engine data), it is calculated across all reviews received on our platforms in the period shown, not just those displayed.
  • We may quote all or part of a review in our marketing. We identify reviewers by first name and initial only.
  • We refresh the selection periodically and may retire older reviews so the page reflects recent stays.

Reporting a suspicious review

If you believe any review shown on this site is fake or breaches the standards above, please email feedback@weststreetsalisbury.co.uk. For reviews on a booking platform, you can also report directly through that platform’s own reporting process (Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo).

How we investigate

We monitor our reviews across the platforms we use at least monthly. If our monitoring, or a report from you, suggests a review may be fake or non-compliant, we will investigate promptly — normally within 14 days. While a review is under investigation we exclude it from any displayed selection and from any aggregate figures. If a review is confirmed as non-compliant, or is removed by the platform that hosts it, we remove it from this website too.
